Abstract
This paper aims to examine three issues of primary importance for life insurance in Colombia, based on three fundamental decisions (case law) that established the legal guidelines in regard with the referred matters. The issues are: (1) The risk conservation burden in the life insurance contract and its subsequent notification in the event of aggravation in accordance with Article 1060 of the Commercial Code; (2) The beginning of the life insurance policy term in the absence of any express provision (Articles 1057, 1151 and 1152 of the Commercial Code); and (3) The possibility that a particular document may modify the coverage provided in the general conditions of a life insurance policy.
