    Abstract

The importance of career progression, as well as the need to maintain both sport-science involvement and research activity, would likely occupy the mind of many International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance
(IJSPP) readers. A wide spectrum of students, sport-science practitioners, and academic researchers perform a variety of roles, from the generalist to the
specialist. However, being highly engaged and productive in more than one role at a time is a challenge for most individuals. A form of engagement that can benefit both individuals and organizations is mentorship.
