Abstract
Having interviewed 56 women serving time in prisons in NSW, Queenland and Victoria, the author highlights specific issues for overseas-born women in prison. These include isolation, communication, dietary problems. Easteal also provides a picture of life in women’s prisons – the culture – and how the overseas-born women fit within that sub-culture.
