The impact of adopting smart government services on outcome benefits as perceived by public sector employees in Saudi Arabia

Abstract

This study was conducted in Saudi Arabia to investigate the impact of smart government system adoption in public sector on the organizational and social benefits by employees working in the IT departments of four ministries in Saudi Arabia. This research uses the technology acceptance model (TAM), the technology, organization, and environment framework (TOE), and the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). Data was collected from four Saudi ministries using survey questionnaires. The results of the study revealed that all the outcome variable organizational and social factors are significantly affected by the adoption of smart government services. The results also indicate that the adoption of adoption of smart government services positively affects the outcomes of the institutions. Based on the results, the study proposed many recommendations for decision makers in the Saudi public sector and also suggested directions for future studies in the field of smart government services adoption.
