    Abstract

The Language of Practice Research is the inaugural symposium of Design Architecture Practice Research (DAP_r), a research training initiative funded by the O ce for Learning and Teaching (OLT), and led by RMIT University.

There is no single model of practice research, nor is there a consistent language employed across di erent models. Through pairs of key words, the symposium will unpack and debate the language of practice research. Panels of three speakers will address key words in short position papers. This will set up a dynamic where di erent questions and positions regarding practice research can emerge and be debated.

What are the outcomes of practice research? Is the exhibit the thing, or is that simply a format for making public the work of a practice? With the increasing focus on the speci cation of research outputs, the di erence between works and exhibits is important for understanding, among other things, where the outcomes of practice research reside, and the ways in which authorship and new knowledge can be defined.
