Abstract
Ekphrasis can be understood as a conversation between artforms, rather than a poetic description of a work in another form. This contribution engages with Yoann Bourgeois' choreography, particularly his Celui qui tombe, to explore how dance/movement encapsulates and metaphorises the pattern of human life; and particularly provides an affordance for what Gaston Bachelard describes as "the generative space of thought".
