Abstract

Typological Speciation (tS) is a proto-architectural model that explores the possibility of architectural speciation or the breeding of hybrid spatial and organisational forms from historical museum and gallery precedents. Here, distinct arrangements of core architectural elements — doors, arches, walls, columns — are strategically seeded before a gradient of ‘missing-links’ are created between them. This curatorial landscape avoids both reductionist efficiency and the uniform adoption of a singular ideal instead preferring tuned difference and strategic redundancy.
