Abstract

This report provides insights into local and global trends in the digital games industry to inform the Victorian Government’s future support of the Victorian digital games sector. It outlines the current shape and size of the sector, highlighting the unique strengths and advantages that Victorian game developers possess, and the historical and emerging challenges they face. This profile is presented in the context of the global games industry and in particular, four benchmarked sectors with considerably varied industries and funding environments: Finland, Québec (Canada), New Zealand, and South Korea.
