N2 - Yes, what are talent scouts identifying? In this issue's feature article, Woods, Joyce and Robertson examine the “technical skill match activity” of drafted and non-drafted players participating in the 2013 and 2014 National and under 18 Australian Football League Championships. They conclude that rather than measures such as speed and distance covered, technically skilled players who win posession and deliver the ball effectively into the inside 50 are the most likely to be drafted.
