Abstract
Extensive markup language (XML) is a simple, very flexible text format derived from SGML (ISO 8879),which is a well defined, public standard. ... XML is being increasingly used by businesses throughout the world as a means of storing, transmitting and displaying information. The simple, well defined structure of XML can present problems for businesses and similar organizations in security and the storage of large documents. This thesis focuses on the affect of the size of an XML transmission when it is used to communicate across a network. A large sized XML document can increase the time taken to transmit the document and we were interested to see how it could be minimised.Date of Award | 2007 |
